Conceptualist.com logoThe logo on this site was created by John Wik of Minnesota. It was the winning logo in a highly successful logo design contest I posted at SitePoint.com.

When submitting the logo design for consideration, John wrote the following:

Most of all you strike me as a very instinctual person - one who trusts your own deep impulses and moves ahead once an action has been decided (even if the action you take may be outside the traditional realm). You seem to thrive on the knowledge you gain learning about all aspects of things as you progress, and that knowledge leads you down further avenues of thought which you excitedly explore!

It was my intention to create a mood with this logo - one that not only captures what I feel to be your own inner drive, but one that would inspire others upon seeing it as well.

I included a symbolic reference to the shooting star you wished upon which is always behind as the face looks ahead. My impression is that the memory of your wishes is a sort of confirmation to yourself that you’re on the right path and can succeed. The dots from .com are referenced as shooting stars that emit from you out into the world.

My stylistic goal was to give the face a serene, yet determined look - as though he is concentrating, conceptualizing, and considering as he looks towards the future and gathers information (and all the while droplets of knowledge and seeds from his efforts spring forth and become real for others as well…)

But again - I wanted this logo to appeal to all of us on the same level, so I simplified the features as much as possible. That way the logo isn’t coming across as decidedly male or female which could sway perception depeding on who views it. Instead I strove for the look of a dedicated and aware human thinker/seeker.

* I enjoyed reading through your blog and the article on dnjournal - interesting, inspiring, and even made me hungry for ice cream which I’m going to reward myself with in a few minutes!
