An interesting thread on DNForum caught my attention. The thread name.. “Domainers Are Losers“.
lordbyroniv writes:
Just an observation: that many in this industry don’t make hardly any money. Most register domain names w/ the expectation / hope that the $6.99 registration will make them millionaires
LOSERS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Very few will actually succeed
He continues:
… I do VERY well off domains
It is clearly possible to make decent money from domains - I know from first hand experience
However, some of the domains I see people getting excited about on this board are just laughable. I wouldnt even take some of these domains if given to me for free. And that goes for the majority of domains discussed on this forum.
That said, my point was merely, that the MAJORITY of domainers will not succeed off their hand regs. Hence they are losers. At least in my book.
I know. I know. The truth is brutal. It hurts.

A PERFECT thread for 4th of July, to discuss a little about what makes this country a great county to live in! This country, the United States, is built on dreams, hence why so many of us are here. Over my 33+ years on this planet I’ve been in many different situations at many different times. At times I thought “why me?”, or “life sucks!”, or “is it ever going to get better?”. Other times my thoughts were “What am I going to do with my life?”, “How am I going to solve this?”, or “This was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done!”. You see, at times I made great decisions, at others I made bad decisions. The way you win, in business and life, is not to stop making mistakes but simply to try, learn, and progress. I’m still making many mistakes to this day. I’m still invested in many areas which I’m sure some some will fail. Does that make me a loser? The real losers are those who sit on the sidelines and are quick to criticize, are those who are quick to shoot down someone’s dream as if they know the answer to the universe. If anything, I look at these and say to myself, the more they criticize, the more negative they are towards what I do, the better my chances are to succeed are. You see, it is the norm, not the exception as some may think, that you would win against the odds or otherwise, we would all win all the time.
Didn’t we hear countless stories of rags to riches by now to know better? Today in this world there are many perceived losers, some are living in your neighborhood, some are from your old high school, some may serve you tonight at your local McDonald’s or Subway. Let’s not forget: Today’s perceived losers are also tomorrow’s leaders.
Have a great day, and happy 4th!

Sahar, that thread was a definite flame-bait but I see no fireworks
Success is measured by different measures and we both know that anonymous cowards enjoy the usual pissing contests. Frankly, I long for the day that a virtual trout can be used in real life for posts like this, and slap the offender across both cheeks
Happy 4th of July!
I’m reminded of Edison and his first 5000 light bulbs. He tried again and again until he found a filament that worked.
And there’s the Mcdonalds employees who wind up owning several great franchise locations. The same nervous guy or gal who messed up your order, couldn’t figure out your change and shorted you a drink. But he came back the next day and the next and the next after that. And he learned from his mistakes. He laughs about it now but it still stings when he thinks about it.
But he has a strength and a conviction. Maybe a little more patience with people who fumble and a idea of what might work and what might not. He understands failure is just a light bulb that didn’t work.
To tell you the truth I feel sorrier for the people eating at McDonalds than I do the people working there.
Domaining is an art, and you need to be very patient cause if you dont you end up posting threads like those…
That’s funny….. Acroplex making a statement like that when he has been the biggest instigator on the forums for years. I guess it takes one to know one.. so he can identify with the OP.
Also remember (and I’m not knocking it) that a lot of posters on NPs are kids. It’s a mixed bag that these youngsters are obviously at least a bit entrepreneurial but only time teaches us the values of respect and restraint.
Johnny, when you sign with your name I will argue with you. Until then I will ignore you like the troll that you are.
Guys,
Slow down on the personal attacks. I won’t allow this to continue here.

Great post Sahar - you are a CHAMPION.
People have never stood UNITED together since if we did we would not fight wars against each other (be it war of words or actual wars to build Evil Empires).
One of my favorite songs by The Beatles.
Its a ridiculous debate. These discussions come up frequently. People love to give you their success story and then follow it up with some cribbed motivational text from wikipedia (regurgitated as their own) and where you can almost hear the national anthem playing in the background. It’s always the same, “the reason why im successful” is always about how they made money.
Laughably, the winning/losing debate is simple, its simply a subjective state of mind. If you are happy, content and healthy - you’re a winner. Forget all the “I’ve made this much” wealth acquiring BS..

Well put Julia. I thought of this yesterday, how a short message can be more powerful than years of learning. Your words of “happy, content, and healthy” deliver that message strongly. I have another one of those I heard lately that changed my life completely, will write of it soon.
Cheers

I can’t wait! ASAP please!!!!!! Well, take your time and make it say what you want but do make it a priority. I love reading those stories and thoughts you post from time to time.
One of these days you’re going to be the keynote speaker somewhere and I’d love to be there on the front row.
