Bido’s First Auction Winner: “I Got a Great Investment”

winner2.gifThis is what Aaron Chronister of Search Engine Optimization firm The Mad Hat had to say about winning the first live auction with Bido.com, stealing DiscountImages.com for US $911!

My search engine optimization business keeps me really busy – too busy, in fact, to pay attention to thousands of domains being auctioned off everyday. However, I can pay attention to one domain per day. In fact, I just put in a low-ball amount and went back to work. I later checked on the site and saw it was up to $800. I put in $1,200 as a max and stole it at $911! It worked perfectly and I got a great investment. I’m planning to hold on to it, park it for cash-flow, and sell at a profit later.

themadhat.gifMany Bido experts believed the domain worth more than the winning bid.

To Aaron, Congratulations!

“Park it for cash-flow” will be a big disappointment based on search stats. You’ll need to develop this one in order to get a decent ROI.

Each has their own ideas, strategies. I remember few years ago I was involved in Real Estate here in South Florida. We had EMPTY waterfront houses for 12-18 months and then we would flip them. Friends and associates thought I was insane not to rent them for the period but we were doing well enough on the flipping that rent was just not something we wanted to spend time on. Same method may apply to domains.

Congrats on your first successful day! By the way, your Press Release says the domain name that was sold was DigitalImages.com, instead of DiscountImages.

    Thanks!

Yea, someone somewhere made a mistake and both of those domains were mentioned, saw that as well.

    Cheers

congratulations Sahar! I love to see passionate entrepreneurs launching bold but useful projects. Just wrote about job boards needing a ‘maniac entrepreneur’ - check out the video of my favorite job board maniac at http://internetinc.com/job-board-niches-analysis-2008 My friend Dennis who made this video is headed to the top.

I don’t know too many maniac entrepreneurs, but you are certainly one of the best and that’s probably already obvious now to most people in the domain industry but I could see it years ago before you launched so many interesting projects.

It never crossed my mind I would take pleasure of someone calling me a “Maniac” :)

Thanks for the mention! I love the format and as long as decent domains keep coming up I think it will do well. As for the domain, I think the snagged a good deal on it.

And @E, yes I could build it out, but my plate is full at the moment. I’ve been successful sitting on them and flipping them before, but as always, I might change my mind and develop it. Who knows! Glad to be a part of it anyway!

I don’t think that name is worth 900 bux but that’s my opinion (based on the belief that it probably has zero type in traffic).

I love the concept of bido though. Good luck and I hope to buy and/or sell something soon on bido.com.
