The fact though is American Airlines has nothing to do with the domain Paris.com. Why then are they doing it? It is because they are teaching their readers to associate Online Travel to their brand, by using generic domain names as concepts rather than web addresses, destinations. Of course not only this helps the owner of the specific domain owner in question, but as I wrote before, such activity helps tremendously the domain channel altogether.

Very interesting. Thank you for posting.
Sahar the info you are providing in this post is GREAT.

AA.com is owned by American Airlines.
It depends where you start out and where you want to go.
We have 4000 IDN domains. Many commercial single words or single characters.
When the type-in traffic which is growing encouragingly comes on stream then we will probably have enough money without development. Indeed, I am not yet convinced that it will be worth our while to develop or sell most of the domains.
Undoubtedly, at some point we will revisit the problem, and come to the conclusion that we can get more out of our portfolio by developing, but it is complexed because we are then entering a World we don’t really have a handle on. In our case it is slightly more complex because we don’t speak the language. But the real barriers are that we don’t have the skills set to make money out of development. When I look at your projects, I am amazed that you can function on what are really pretty average domains by some standards. But then this business development thing is really your great strength. It certainly isn’t ours and going down that route coping with the language problems would be the least of our worries.
So we are fundamentally domainers, and I would have to say that you fundamentally are not. When it comes to building business, I also have ambitions that will be fed on the back of our domain portfolio, but I am afraid it will be back into conventional real-estate development for me. Might even turn up in Florida when the market is ready to pick up again in about five years time.

Thanks for pointing this concept out. It tells all of us that advertisers are finally realizing the keyword domain name channel is valuable. We should start seeing an appreciable increase in keyword domain names values over the next few years.
I predict that a lot of keyword domains will sell for no less than 10 million $ us, over the next few years. Most good keyword domains are rediculously undervalued from a strategic stand point. Thanks again for the concept. Jeff Schneider
One solution to the language barrier is BableFish. It allows users to translate an entire website, or any text into their language.
Look at my site
http://BuyTheRightDomain.com
for an example. I believe it’s a great tool and simple to use. Also free.
What is also very positive is the heading below the picture:
“YOUR NEXT VACATION STARTS ONLINE”
Still think Geo Domains are overrated?
This is only the beginning.
“YOUR NEXT VACATION STARTS ONLINE”?
Vactions are 100% GEO. There are not too many other categories of generic domains that would be nearly as effective as geo domains in this same strategy.
The future of the internet will continue to evolve and make once upon a time experts, novices again. The key is to embrace change and take advantage of those opportunities that present themselves to stay ahead of the game.
Everyday, this strategy happens with geo domains in different forms across thousands of businesses, because people relate to the places they know and are starting to use the geo domains with efective content to plan and educate themselves of the area.
This trend is going mainstream as more consumers come online and developers provide the content consumers are in search of.
Thanks for sharing this Sahar.

There’s no doubt they are overrated. Like .mobi fans, like .tv fans, many geo fans are blindfolded by their NEED for geo to be “hot” rather then objective view at issues.

Whoa !
Sahar, You are right. Just compare valuations on Generic Keyword Names and Geos, and the markets put a premium on Generic Keyword Domains. This is due in great part to the fact that, Corny as it sounds The internet is The World Wide Web. Accessible to the world.
Geos target a very small part of the world. Look at the truths out there not the spin. The world is not flat it is universal. Therefore if you want the best bang for your buck Target the world not a slice of it. STEVE your next !
Dear Sahar,
Great eye and more importantly a great connection. Domains are the starting and ending point on the web. However, domain are destinations or more interestingly are becoming what you want them to become. In other words, domains are becoming your advertising campaign, a message or simply providing info.
To me, domains are a versatile medium. You can educate, thrill, amuse your audiences with your domain. For instance, I own LiveinLosAltosHills.com and LiveinBuckhead.com both of these domains are targeting people and encouraging them to live in such desired locations. These domains are reducing your advertising cost yet promoting desired locations for homeowners and real estate agents. Moreover, I own PurePomegranteJuice.com which is another amazing domain as it can become a site on educating and promoting the amazing Antioxidant benefits of pomegranates.
Some of the other domains I own are AspenAttractions.com, Nevadamove.com, Airporthotelsinfo.com, Atlantahotelsinfo.com, Phoenixhotelsinfo.com, Houstonhotelsinfo.com, HonoluluOpenhouse.com, YouDepressed.com, Macaosbest.com, Cancunsbest.com, BengaluruBungalows.com, DentalFlossing.co.uk, CommericalRealestate.co.uk.
Looking to connect, share ideas, and broaden our domain horizons with other like-minded domainers.
Sincerely,
Salman
Sorry people…I had made a typo for my domain http://www.PurePomegranateJuice.com earlier when I was posting comments about how American Airlines was creatively using http://www.Paris.com….Its PurePomegranateJuice.com
Thanks,
Salman
