Sahar,
You mention it was purchased at a major auction house. Can you share whether it was actually purchased off one of their marketplaces or in an actual auction, be it live or online?

----answer----

Live online auction.

Cheers

Giovanni, to succeed you have to have a vision. Most of the very good names that will ever exist are registered. The remainder will probably go to auction at sunrise, so the huge windfalls have probably gone, but there is still much much bigger ROI to be had in domaining than any other industry.

Most Noobies bulk at the $10K investment. Instead they prefer to pick up dozens of domains under 50 bucks. The problem is most of these names are never going to be worth anything. It is just like flushing dollar bills down the toilet. But at least you don't feel like you have overpaid.

If you want opportunities, my advice would be to study emerging markets. The US market is the most developed. It stands to reason that it therefore offers much poorer opportunities than anywhere else. But you have to bear in mind return is proportional to perceived risk. The only way you are going to cut the odds is to do your homework.

LOL - the word "deal" here is s misnomer, just like Rupert Murdoch might say about the purchase of Myspace for $580M. $10K might be a deal for the writter here, but maybe, just maybe not the new to the domaining industry newbie. ;-)
