Bido.com Launch Party Videos

My good friends Marcia and Warren Walker of DomainerTV.com put the extra hours yesterday (literally working all day on this for us) to put this out today. Here are some of the first videos (more later), just for you. Enjoy!

    Sahar,

Thanks for sharing the atmosphere and excitement of the Bido.com Launch Party! The excellent videos from DomainerTV.com and Ron Jackson’s conversational interviews were informative and helped to present Bido.com and DNZoom by Bido.com in practical, real-life, human terms.

Having the opportunity to get to see, hear, and “meet” you, Ron, Darren, Jeff, and Sean via the videos was a special treat — one I’m sure your many blog readers will truly appreciate.

    Best wishes for great success!

    Sincerely,
    Neal

I want to wish you guys the best of luck. This sounds like a formidable line-up of talent. I am sure this model will evolve quickly. I can’t wait to see the first few months of action, as well as the progression.

    Best Regards,
    Paul

Congratulations to the Bido and DnZoom team.

And as always Ron did a great job of interviewing, and is so gracious, only pointing out that he’s glad to be along for the ride. I would have liked to have seen one of the principals, in turn, borrow the mic and interview him about his perspective and involvement in BidO as well.

Thanks for your kind words Tasha. When I originally announced I would be part of the Bido project I said one reason for doing it was to be able to tell the inside story of the building of a new domain company. I think a lot of people, including me, can learn a lot from the process that will help them in building their own businesses. So, from the start I have been keeping notes and planning a series of articles that will be called Building Bido.com. I plan to do the first chapter soon after the site goes live. That will give me ample opportunity to talk about why I decided to get involved with Bido when I had previously turned down every other business partnership opportunity that had been presented to me (and there have been quite a few since I entered this industry).

In a nutshell, the decision was based on four key things:

    1) Sahar’s long-term vision for building a multi-service company that would provide useful new services to domain owners (like DNZoom) or a major new twist to existing service categories that we enter (like auctions with Bido’s one-a-day platform). Many more new domain-related services are coming. I had no interest in being the 3rd or 4th mover in a category that is already being well served by the many good companies in the industry today.

    2) Equally important was the fact that I already knew the kind of people Sahar, Darren and Jeff were and that is critical. The guys who joined us when we absorbed DNZoom are the same kind of people; devoted to the industry, easy to work with and ego-free. If you are going to be on a team, teammates are the most important thing in the equation and good chemistry has to be there or the team will disintegrate.

    3) Another key factor, as I noted above, was the opportunity as a journalist to document the whole adventure. No one has done that in this industry before so I think a very good, insightful set of articles will come out of the experience.

    4) I am an entrepreneur at heart. I love the challenge of building new businesses from scratch. I have done it several times in my life and intend to keep doing it until the day I die (no retirement for me!). Once something is built and humming along smoothly, entrepreneurs start looking for another challenge. This is a large scale project so it is definitely going to be a challenge. If we can pull off what we envision it will be very gratifying as we think we it will improve the lot of all domain owners including us. If we do reach the finish line, I’ll down a bottle of Gatorade then start looking for something else to build!
