What Is Happiness?

happinessUntil Ron Jackson asked me this question last year I did not give it any thought, however, since then it is always on my mind. Shane of AskShane.org wrote some thoughts of happiness as well:

I see so many people chasing riches because they think it will make them happy. You know what? They’re right. If riches can’t buy happiness, I don’t know what can.

The problem, though, is that it’s a very fleeting happiness.

Mo Money Mo ProblemsFlying my family in our own personal jet to the vacation of our dreams would make me very happy for a time, but if I can’t be happy without that, something’s fundamentally wrong and no amount of money will change that.

So if you’re not already a nice person, a happy person, find out why that is because being rich won’t get you there. As Frank said: I’ve heard that money, like alcohol, reveals who people really are - strips away the veneer. Frank is happy now because he was happy then. Money didn’t change him from who we was.

Mo money, mo problems. If you have problems now, money will only make them worse. Don’t kid yourself into thinking otherwise.

My experience with it now led me to ASSISTA, searching for questions, answers, thoughts of others. ASSISTA search for “Happiness” results in some 1643 questions (can you say the topic is popular?), some of the more interesting questions I came across are:

What is the essence of happiness?
WHY IS HAPPINESS A VIRTUE?
What is happiness according to Socrates?
How is happiness portrayed in advertisements?
What is happiness without giving?
What is your greatest source of happiness?
What is Happiness for a Vietnamese Tribesman?
What is the significance of the feeling of happiness?
What is the key to happiness according to Kabbalah?
What is happiness if you have noone to share with?
Why do some people value loyalty more than money or happiness and others place love above all else?

Most of these questions were not something I thought of previously. Even without visiting the hundreds of links associated with these questions I now have a better direction than before I started my search.

In this instance ASSISTA does not solve my problem but broaden my intellectual horizon. While I don’t have the answer to what happiness is I do know that for me, happiness may be the idea of helping others. May or may not be true however it is a cause worth betting on.

Have a good night,

Sahar

“Most of these questions were not something I thought of previously. Even without visiting the hundreds of links associated with these questions I now have a better direction than before I started my search.”

And that’s why I like Assista. :) Sometimes I don’t know what to ask to find what I need.

I like this post a lot on multiple levels. Firstly, a friend of mine has the motto “happiness is based on expectations” and he is completely right. Not that we should all go around with low expectations to avoid disappointment, but expecting something reasonably achievable and attainable is much more likely to lead to fulfillment than having a life goal of “10 mill in the bank!”.

As for Assista, when I know I don’t know something I know where to go for answers if I care to learn it. But I often “don’t know what I don’t know” — and Assista seems to be shaping up very nicely in that area.

Last thought, I really hope that comment immediately above this isn’t from a Name Media representative, extremely tacky if it is.

Happiness is living in a moment, happiness is not a destination, which is once you reach or achieve mile stone will make you happy. Material achievement is short lived happiness.

Happiness is a voyage a continuous journey.
