Via ClicZune:
The Zune.com domain name was parked for almost a year a now and it still is, but it seems that the owner is now officially Microsoft. I can’t say when this change happened, but Cliczune reader, Jason, just tipped us on the Whois database update.
Is Microsoft going to change Zune.net to Zune.com? Probably not since all the Zune websites have a .net extension, but my guess is that we should see Zune.com redirected to Zune.net.
Current look at Zune.com Whois shows:
Microsoft Corporation
1 Microsoft Way
Redmond, WA 98052
US
Domain Name: ZUNE.COM
Why in the world did they release the product to the public without buying the domain first? It just shows you, as smart as you may think large companies do things (and sometimes they do), like anyone else, they do major blunders as well. This is one of them that now most likely cost them now dearly.

Hi,
Are we sure how they ‘acquired’ this domain? Lot of people getting sued by them…could have this been the result of a lawsuit, that just took its sweet time to going trough the process?
Just asking…not saying MS is sue happy or anything…lol
Peace!

It could have been..

When the Zune first came out zune.com was already taken, I can’t imagine MS would have won a lawsuit on it unless the previous owner was “unwise” enough to park it with Zune/media player related ads.
Actually, I’ve often wondered why they released this product to the public at all. Can anyone confirm an actual Zune sighting (other than in the box and under a layer of dust at Target)?
