Domains are great, but a woman can't wear a domain name around her neck when going out to dinner.

It's true, the ad industry created from scratch the concept that a proposal of marriage is incomplete without a diamond ring. It's one of the most brilliant marketing coups of all time.

So what would be the equivalent in domain name terms? Perhaps the idea that the first step in developing or starting a business is acquiring a good domain name.

"Make a name for yourself... get a domain name."

Or:

Internet business checklist:

* Good domain name
* Unique concept
* Website
* Chips and soda
* Make money

this was a great analogy. Love it. Not sure if diamonds will be replaced by domains. I am sure that domains will buy more diamonds

In answer to "Can a domain win a woman?" - it may not win her, but it definitely can show commitment.

After realizing my girlfriend was the one for me, I registered her last name. At first she thought it was unusual, but then she didn't know much about the domain name industry, and this was even before I could remotely consider myself a domainer.

Today I still own the domain name and it brings in a bit of traffic... all proceeds of course going to her diamond!
