Frank Schilling: Simple Software That Can Make A Domainer A Lot of Money

Rubicon Project

Frank writes the following about Rubicon project:

A platform for managing scores of different advertisers and campains “and”? page-space across a website or “network”? of websites?!? .. This is what every domainer needs.. Thanks for sending.. Think about how this could pare back your IT overhead in terms of managing ROI on different adspace within different verticals of domains. Or if you’re not already employing IT folks for this.. think how starting such a program could grow your revenue. If you are a domainer out of growth (acquisition) mode and have decided to turn to development in order to offset or increase PPC revenues, then you owe it to yourself to check-out this software out and tell me if it’s any good ;) *JK* .. I do all this right now but my IT folks do it manually.

Jeff says: “looks like dnzoom for ads”

dnzoom

This really demonstrates the upside of domains. We are yet to explore the many options which we can, which will come with time. Imagine the folks that created this platform building something for domainers? dnzoom folks originally started with hosting and have done very well, now they offer domain services. Fabulous history (founder Dean Shannon, “The General”) goes back to the old days of affiliate programs, long before domains, and same goes for Oversee.net. As the industry grows and matures more and more will come in, present competing offerings, and explore the unlimited potential of “internet land”.

There’s always two sides to the story though. What is the other one? What is your opinion, hold or fold?

    Sahar,

Thanks for the mention. We have a new dnZoom update being pushed this week and a new updated website.

Thanks for pointing out the dnZoom.com (or whomever pointed at it first). As a rather new domainer I’ve discovered the nightmare of keeping track of everything. This looks like a great service and one I’ll be checking out.

Check out PubMatic as well. They provide a similar service (launched prior to Rubicon) and work with the major ad networks.

DNZ has saved me a lot of time managing my portfolio; I’ve been using it since the first (beta) release, and it continues to get better - they’ve been receptive to input too. Rubicon is interesting as well (Pubmatic is also in this space), and I talked with them some at AdTech. - Brad

I have to say I’m pleased to see all the positive responses and agree - not tooting dnZoom’s horn, but when I saw Rubicon I literally said out loud: “Awesome!”. I have a fairly generic airport domain it will be perfect for. Literally not being a “master of my domain(s)” I need things like Rubicon much for the same reason I use dnZoom - just saves a ton of time. Why read a book on trying to re-invent the wheel, then go to re-create it, only to do a lower quality job and take longer?
Thanks again for the great comments.

Thanks for posting this. I’m a new domainer and think this tool will be extremely helpful. I’ve only been using dnZoom for a few months, but I’m finding more and more cool and dynamic things every day.

Without posts like this, I would miss out on quite a bit.

    Thanks.

This is an exciting time for webmasters and domainers. Thanks for keeping us up to speed on these two very promising, forward-looking projects. I think we’ve all been noticing more synergy in this space as of late.

With all the power consolidated in dnZoom for portfolio management and now Rubicon on the campaign side, one can imagine a day when you only need to login to check on your domains a few times a day (week?) to view your latest reports, readjust some keywords or advertisers, and check back later to see how much your bottom line has increased. ;) I look forward to seeing more from these folks.

dnZoom has been a great tool for me. I have domains that I own and domains that I manage for another individual and it is nice to be able to get all of the information in one spot. It is in Beta, but the changes have been coming fast and furious (like Dan mentioned above). And I know that these guys understand what domaining is about, so I have the utmost confidence in the product.

BTW: I really enjoy your blog and appreciate the time it takes to update it and post information for us to read. Thanks!

These comments are great feedback. dnZoom’s trying to accommodate as fast as possible. The situation is thus: (1) dnZoom is a startup; (2) The opportunities are near limitless. Its hard to reconcile those two but the best attempts are being made.

The Thrill of victory!! But could you have let a couple of wrong guesses roll in first! Zoiks that was fast. Anyway - close your eyes and imagine applause and a large trophy being handed to you by a king.

dnZoom’s is one my favorite tools still in beta form but quite reasonably fulfilling my domain managing needs.
