Domain For Sale: FullTilt.com

Here’s a great poker related domain coming soon on the auction block.

Full Tilt Poker

The FullTilt.com domain now receives in excess of 60,000 unique visitors per month looking for the online poker site that uses the same phrase. As the popularity of the FullTilt name grows through the promotion of the online poker site, more and more people erroneously type FullTilt.com to play online poker. “At first we thought that the extra traffic was fun, but now the traffic has grown to a point of distraction and is utilizing resources that should be reserved for our customers and prospects” says Timothy Wallace, CEO of FullTilt Solutions.

The domain will be sold at auction in November and all interested parties must pre-register and be pre-qualified by MHKogan Corp. prior to November 15th. If one wishes to participate, please send an email to info @ MHKoganCorp.com (without the spaces) with contact information and someone will contact you directly. “We expect the purchase price to be in the seven figure range due to the free traffic that is increasing at a rate of 38% per year” said Michael H. Kogan, President of MHKogan Corp. and online poker insider. Mr. Kogan was one of the founders of Platinum Poker and the Vice President of Marketing for the Doyle Brunson Poker Network until October of last year.

38% per year traffic increase is likely due to poker popularity and possibly because of a site using the “Full Tilt” term in their domain name, resulting in more type-ins to the original term. These sort of increase come in waves. If I was a bidder I would ask for more statistics and analyze it against the industry, the news, and other data sets.

I like the idea they have hired a poker insider to help them sell the domain, should be interesting to follow. Good luck to all bidders!

    That’s a great name for poker…

    I watch a poker show on TV 2am Mon.-Fri.
    called Poker After Dark….

and they talk about a Full Tilt Poker site where you can play for free… and many of the players wear shirts with a Full Tilt Logo on them…

    great name…

    Hi,

The only problem I see…. is that this domain will/would only be valuable to fulltilt.net (full tilt poker).

I would think that any other purchaser of this domain, who trys to put up a online poker site or just ‘parks’ it for ad revenue from ‘poker ads’…will run into some serious ‘litigation’ problems with Full Tilt Poker.

Better consult Mr. John Berryhill for a little ‘consultation’ before deciding to make a bid for this one.

I guess one could try and work out some sort of exclusive ‘affiliate’ arrangement with Full Tilt Poker…BEFORE purchase. Poker affiliate programs can pay huge sums of money.

    Best,
    Dan

I don’t see an issue as it is a generic term and using it for poker is the descriptive use of the term. You cannot protect generics with related industry with a trademark.
As you said, consultation with a professional is always recommended.

I think they are selling it because it is a bull?hit site.
Ive played at all the sites, and I feel their program is bull.
If the play isnt fair, then what are they selling.
I feel many of the poker sites are fair, but full tilt is the worst I’ve played.
I hope they shut it down, besides why pay for a name when there are better names to be had.
We really need an american based site, that is fair, and honest.
