If I had no domain names today, but I had 6 months or so of free time, and a credit card with a 20k limit I could probably mine the long tail for enough names to generate $50,000 a year in revenue via parking or name sales. And that’s just based on the types of names “I”? would think about.. We all think differently. The guy in this video is thinking “tube socks”?, I’m thinking cars, planes and rum-cakes” you’re thinking something else.
Funny Frank mentioned the 20K credit card limit as this is exactly how I started in the business long ago. Today, I wouldn’t need 20K limit to start with as so much information is out for the taking. For those with funds I would suggest to educate yourself before jumping in the domain waters, maybe take 2-3 months to thoroughly read everything you can get your hands (or eyes) on and than get invovled, not slowly, but obsessively.
The domain business isn’t the best business in the world but for those who want the possibility of early retirement (work smart, you can get to it in a year or two), for those who don’t want employees, and for those who like residual income, it is definitely something to look into.

Great a few weeks of this and all the good traffic names are mined by domain search data spies that feed off of Godaddy queries. Cool video but the Godaddy part is just horrible unless your ready to buy the good keyword right away.

It is likely that GoDaddy is silently sponsoring this video. They have done lots of sponsors with other videos on YouTube.

I’m the guy in the video and thank you for showing it here.
I can assure you the video wasn’t sponsored by godaddy, they are just the easiest place to drop 500 keywords in and find their availability that I knew of.

where do you stand on the “don’t hand reg domains vs there are plenty of valuable names out there” debate?

A couple of weeks ago I was teaching a friend and was telling her there are allot of free names to register. In order to back my claim I went ahead and put the time to research, register, just like the old days. Took me three hours to find 100 good names to register, and when I say good, I mean two words, logical combinations, .com domains, names that will sell easily on the boards for 100$-1000$ each.
Not saying these are type-in domains but these are definitely valuable domains for quick flipping or development. If you sent me that list I registered I would double your money in a second. Where else can you get 100% ROI that quick?
No examples as we don’t disclose ownerships but to give you an example of similar names (that are likely registered) here are some:
weedplant.com
mvpsource.com
vitasource.com
bloodylips.com
deckhatch.com
blueberrycookie.com
ticklespot.com

Good video. Knew about the adwords tool but didn’t know you could just paste in the keywords with spaces and get domains.
Thanks.

Oh old trick. You can do it with WordTracker, Overture, and other places who give you keyword data. Take it one step further and create your own automated data manipulation scripts (for cheap, hire at eLance).
